Team Fortress 2 is a team-based first-person shooter and the official successor of Valve's Team Fortress Classic released on October 10, 2007. It was originally sold as a bundled package entitled "The Orange Box" that included Portal, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, and Half-Life 2: Episode One. It eventually was released as a standalone package on April 9th, 2008.

The game was originally announced in 1998 and to be powered by Valve's GoldSrc engine but was delayed several times throughout the development process. The original design and art direction also deviated from its predecessors by adding a much more realistic and militaristic style of gameplay and visuals.
