Natural Selection, abbreviated as "NS" is a multiplayer modification for Half-Life developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment and originally released publicly on October 31st, 2002. It has a strong science fiction focus pitting humans versus aliens in a mixture of first-person gameplay and real-time strategy game genres.

It was originally created and developed exclusively by Charlie "Flayra" Cleveland who later went on to create the company, Unknown Worlds Entertainment. The current version of Natural Selection is 3.2 (March 2nd, 2007) which is cited to be the last release as development of Natural Selection 2 is and has been underway for many years now.

It is known as the most popular third-party Half-Life modification which has been the case shortly after its first release. This statement is gauged by the amount of servers and players that Natural Selection has consistently had.
